more about me....
I'm the child of two educators, so teaching comes naturally to me (my mother is laughing from beyond at this), and over the years I've found great joy in watching the lightbulbs go off in actors' eyes when they realize that the most interesting thing they bring to the table is themselves. I started my teaching journey in graduate school at UC Irvine, then continued in LA at a school for beginning actors (Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite was one of my assistants for a time before he was Pedro!), and then started working as an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College when my now 20-year-old daughter was 1. I branched out to teach my own classes and have been doing it ever since. I've taught at Fordham University and The Growing Studio, began private coaching consistently a few years before that global thing changed our lives, and now do both in-person and Zoom coaching.
My acting career has run the gamut from amazing to awful, and everything in between, so I impart a fair amount of career wisdom to my students. My first union job was as a regular on Guiding Light, and I'm sure I am the only person who can say I was replaced before walking to set, in full period makeup and hair, on location in Southern Louisiana, by the very famous leading actor's 82-year-old mother (who is not an actor). I've also done dozens of on-camera commercials, voice-overs, television, and some big movies (Magic Mike XXL!). Following the advice I kept giving my students, I began making short films in 2018--I've had two very successful film festival runs and won some nice awards. I can currently be seen in a recurring role in the Amazon series Cross, as Becky Witmer, Eloise Mumford's mom.
